Teens Volunteers
Princeton United Methodist Church invites youth in grades 9 to 12 to participate in its annual service trip with the Appalachia Service Project. An informational meeting for the is on Sunday, October 24, at 12:15 p.m. in the youth room. Preparation for the 2011 trip is an eight-month process that includes fundraisers, learning Appalachian culture and the poverty many face, basic construction skills, and the meaning of service to others.
Last year’s 42-person team (29 youth and 13 adults) spent a week repairing homes in Dickenson County, Virginia. Among the volunteers last year were Plainsboro residents Anthony and Caroline Lee, Tracey and T.J. Lee, and Mikaela Langdon. Princeton Junction volunteers included Zach and Jon Victor and Matt Meers.
The church also welcomes adults who wish to volunteer, once a month, in an affordable housing project in Trenton, collaborating with Isles, to repair and renovate homes. For more information about either program, visit www.princetonumc.org or call 609-924-2613.

Princeton Dance and Theater Studio offers Show Me the Moves, a new dance class featuring an eclectic blend of movement techniques by Marie Alonzo, artistic director of Tangerine, a dance scholar and educator, and a certified Pilates instructor. The Jewish Community Center seeks volunteers for the New Jersey Special Olympics. Teens and their families are invited to a fall sports festival on Sunday, October 31, at Lawrenceville School.
