It’s April, and numbers are in the air at Plainsboro Public Library, with a chance for medals, trophies, and prize money on Friday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m., when Mathemania shifts into high gear.##M:[more]##
To celebrate National Library Week and Math Awareness Month, the library assembles a set of questions with numerical answers that may be found on the library’s website and in its specialized databases. Winners, drawn at random from correct entries, could win as much as $100. “We’ve got your Number” entries are available at the library and must be returned by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
Adults, as well as kids, are encouraged to take the challenge, and learn just how valuable the new-age research databases can be. Need a tutor? No problem. There’s one waiting live and free, online, through the library’s website. Want to brush up on your Spanish? No problem, Rosetta Language Lab featuring 30 languages is waiting, free and easy to use at home, or at the library.
Contests include Estimania, with six challenges including time, distance, and weight; Head to Head InfoCombat, where four finalists will vie with each other to be the first with the correct answer to a question that utilizes the library’s specialized databases; and Sudoku, where the fastest correct answer wins.
