Even though one does not exactly think farmers market with snow on the ground, Slow Food Central New Jersey hosts an “Eat Local” winter farmers market at Tre Piani Restaurant, Forrestal Village, Plainsboro, on Sunday, January 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organized in collaboration with the Lawrenceville Main Street Farmers Market, the Rutgers Gardens Farmers Market, and the West Windsor Community Farmers Market, the market will include a variety of farm vendors, food producers, and a winery. Included are seasonal staples like cold-weather greens, root vegetables, and pies, as well as meats, cheese, eggs, breads, mushrooms, honey, pickles and more.
Vendors include Valley Shepherd Creamery cheeses; Terhune Orchards with cider, apples, greens, pies, and salsa; Cherry Grove Farm cheeses, beef, pork, and eggs; Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms; Village Bakery pastries and bread; Salumeria Biellese cured Italian meats; De’ Lightbournes soups and pies; Whole Earth Center salad, soups, and Jersey Made products; Ducky Life Tea; Slow Food Central NJ; and Slow Food Rutgers.
Musical entertainment includes Straight Jazz with John Henry Goldman of West Windsor on keyboards and trumpet. Beth Feehan of West Windsor is one of the organizers of the event.
