Athletic rivalries between high schools North and South will heat up early in the fall season with several matchups during the first weeks of the school year.
Defending Mercer County girls’ tennis champion South plays at North on Friday, September 9, at 4 p.m. The schools’ soccer teams face off on Tuesday, September 13, with the South girls playing at North at 5:30 p.m., and the North boys playing at South at 7:30 p.m. The following day, South’s girls’ volleyball team plays at North at 5:15 p.m.
A year after its first appearance in the state sectional finals, North’s field hockey squad will play at South on Wednesday, September 21, at 4 p.m.
Defending Group III boys’ cross country champion North takes on Group IV runner-up South, and the North girls face defending Mercer County champion South in a meet that also includes Trenton, Steinert, and Notre Dame at Washington Crossing Park on Tuesday, October 11, at 4:15 p.m.
Rivalry matchups conclude with North’s homecoming football game against South on Saturday, October 15, at 2 p.m.
