Sonal S. Kumar, a senior at High School North, has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars. The Plainsboro resident was invited due to her superior academic excellence.
The announcement was made on August 23 in the National Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. “On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment that Sonal has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said Claes Nobel, founder and chairman of NSHSS. “Sonal is now a member of a unique community of scholars — a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”
Membership in NSHSS entitles qualified students to enjoy a wide variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities and academic competitions.
Last summer, Kumar was a participant in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYFL/MED) in Philadelphia. She joined 350 other students from around the country who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and an interest in a career in medicine. (The News, June 24, 2005).
