Hannold has served on the church’s pastoral staff since 1999, beginning as pastor of small groups in 1999. Over the years he has been responsible for developing small group ministries, singles ministries, pastoral care, teaching, and preaching. The church, located in Plainsboro at the crossroads of Scudders Mill Road and Schalks Crossing, has a congregation of close to 1,”600. The previous senior pastor, Bob Cushman, retired in 2005.
Hannold, born and raised in southern New Jersey, studied mathematics at Temple University before transferring to Houghton College to major in Bible. He received a master of divinity degree from Columbia International University in South Carolina. He received his masters of theology degree at Princeton Theological Seminary and is pursuing a doctorate at Temple University.
He served as pastor of the Sheraden Alliance Church near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for two years. He and his wife, Donna, were appointed as missionaries to Thailand in 1984, and spent 12 years overseas. Hannold developed and directed an extension training program for lay pastors, served as board chair for Bangkok Bible College and Seminary, served as board chair of the Dalat School, and was the mission’s field director for the entire country of Thailand.
The Church’s Pastoral Search Team, a blend of church board members and members of the church, and a pastoral consultant, included Paulette Zimmerman and Terry McCormick of West Windsor, and Asha Praveen of Plainsboro.
The Hannolds and their three children, ranging from seventh grade to college, are actively involved in the church. They live in Hillsborough. Sons Eric and Joel attend public schools and daughter Stephanie is in college.
“One of my dreams for the church is that we be considered an extension of the community,” he says.
