At its August 21 meeting, the school board voted to approve Community Education (adult) classes for the fall semester. Several new courses offered are based on technology learning, including the following: What’s All the Hype About Skype?; Digital Parenting for the 21st Century Student!; Social Media to Enhance Your Professional Development, and Wiki Workshop.
Other classes focus on health and well-being. The new classes are: Stress Management; “Organized Student for School Success: Qigong;” “Energy Healing: Qigong,” “Understanding the 5 Body Systems: Qigong,” Glitterhoops fitness; Bollywood Fitness; Bollywood Dance; Blues Dance Social; Hustle for Beginners; Strengthening the Bones, and Nia Dance fitness.
New cultural programs have also been implemented for 2012-’13. They include new language courses — Hindi for Beginners and Mandarin (beginner and intermediate) — as well as music classes in West African percussion and Middle Eastern percussion. The new additions also include a culinary class in French baking.
