Spring is not in the air, but it is nevertheless time for the annual spring musicals in West Windsor and Plainsboro. “Shrek the Musical” opens at High School North on Thursday, February 26. “Legally Blonde the Musical” opens at High School South on Thursday, March 5. Tickets are $12 for each show.
High School North’s “Shrek the Musical,” based on Dreamworks’ animated film, will be on stage from Thursday, February 26, to Sunday, March 1. A musical adaptation of the film, it is set in the Kingdom of Duloc. The classic rescue of the damsel in distress is not proceeding according to protocol, and mix in an ogre, a feisty princess, a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude, and more than a dozen other fairytale misfits for a musical comedy for all ages.
High School South’s “Legally Blonde: The Musical” is filled with feel-good songs and spectacular dance numbers. Performances are Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 7, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
