New Jersey Beach Rescue by Volunteers from the collection of Richard W. Updike is currently on display at Morven Museum.
Morven Museum & Garden is set to host a lecture about shipwrecks off the the New Jersey coast.
New Jersey Shipwrecks: An Overview of Shipwrecks off the Jersey Shore is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan 23 at the museum, 55 Stockton St., Princeton.
The lecture and slideshow is by Dan Lieb, a founding member and current president of New Jersey Historical Divers Association. NJHDA is a non-profit historical organization dedicated to the preservation of New Jersey shipwreck and maritime history.
One focus of the organization is discovering the names of the unidentified shipwrecks found off the New Jersey coast and bringing that history to light. He also led NJHDA’s efforts in establishing the New Jersey Shipwreck Museum at the Information Age Science and History Learning Center in Wall.
This program is presented in conjunction with Morven’s current exhibition, The Age of Sail: A New Jersey Collection. Attendees are invited to view the exhibit before or after the lecture.
Tickets are $10.
