The Morven Museum is set to hold a Botantical Handmade Papermaking Workshop on Saturday, August 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Under the direction of Arts Council of Princeton instructor Kathleen Metaxas, students will learn how to form paper sheets using wet beaten pulp made from abaca – a plant fiber that is similar to the banana plant. Papermakers will come away with a stack of creamy off-white paper embedded with botanicals or plain for other uses. Comfortable shoes and clothing should be worn.
Students are asked to bring a bin or large tray for transporting paper home and are welcome to bring any pressed flowers or dried leaves on hand. There will be a half hour break and students should bring their lunch to enjoy in the garden.
A materials fee of $20 is payable directly to the instructor.
