Pacesetter Awards
The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey honored other West Windsor and Plainsboro people with Pacesetter Awards. Recipients include West Windsor residents Naveen Kumar, Neil Acharya, and Kamala Acharya, Donna Goudy of Plainsboro; and Paula O’Neill from Bristol Myers Squibb’s Plainsboro office.##M:[more]##
Firmenich Community Day
Employees from Firmenich, the Plainsboro research company specializing in flavor and scents, recently devoted one day to performing community services.
Work at Animal Placement Agency of West Windsor included participation in an expansion project, clean-up, grounds maintenance, painting, and cleaning out the animal residences. The work was performed by 18 employees including Jaime Krayger, Diane Jones, Leatha Boyd, Ronni Shearn, Barbara Stout, Stacey Ryker, Debra Karvelas, Kathy Pappano, Kirsten Alexander, Jeanette Vazquez, Joyce Stoveken, Debbie Duyckinck, Adrienne Moran, Nancy Fain, Jim Wolfe, Natalie Natelson, Karen DiMeglio, Kirsten Alexander, Mikel Cirkus, and Kelly Schwing (also the organizer of the event).
Volunteers at Trenton Area Soup Kitchen included 12 employees serving lunch to the poor and homeless of the Trenton area. Participants included Sheri Murad, Usha Manduru, Alan Sadovnick, Sue Straszewski, Denice Marciano, Kelly Schwing, Rich Stewart, Melissa Ruby, Bob Fuller, Dan McLaughlin, Jen King, and Jerry Vittoria. Schwing also organized this activity.
The Human Resources Group organized a Red Cross Blood Drive resulting in close to 30 donations during the day.
Chris Weiss organized a food collection for the Plainsboro Food Pantry resulting in more than 1,”000 food items collected and donated to the food pantry for distribution to the needy of Plainsboro.
Annette Kennedy organized a personal care products collection to benefit Womanspace, a shelter for women and children seeking refuge from abusive relationships. The group received and distributed several hundred personal care items including shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant.
Rosalie Alexanderson organized a roadside cleanup in Plainsboro with nine employees volunteering three hours to clean up trash along Plainsboro and Scudders Mill roads. Dan Lewis, Gerry LaForge, Ken Gries, Jana Pika, Adam Getzel, Tom Dunn, Susan Phelps, and Joe Hafenmaier helped to fill more than a dozen bags of trash.
Kennedy also organized 12 employees to visit with the elderly residents of Sunrise of East Brunswick. They served lunch, baked and made costumes with residents, performed manicures, moved furniture and accompanied residents on walks. Participants included Annette Mockler, Laura Heyburn, Rae Belgard, Jill Mancia, Ingrid Andrews, Vikrant Lal, Deepak Saini, Margaret Grillo, Holly Cardinali, Stephanie Fulham, and Julie Green.
Firmenich also raised $7,”956 to be donated to the Make-A-Wish-Foundation.
Cub Scouts
Cub Scouts from West Windsor Pack 48 have assembled hygiene bags including toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, and a razor for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. Patrons of TASK receive a new hygiene bag once a month. The pack includes more than 35 boys, from grades 1 through 5.
The Webolos Flaming Arrow Den sent seven boxes of Cub Scout and Boy Scout uniforms, clothing, backpacks, and toys to their fellow scouts in the Dallas area to be distributed to the displaced Scout victims of Katrina.
The den that collected the stuff for the victims of Katrina include fourth graders Dhruv Bagga, Paul Barlyn, Scotty Baron, Fran Bellefleur, Timmy Berrill, Aditya Mudigonda, Declan Mulligan, Joe Petrozzini, and Paul Phalen. The Webelos Den Leader is Patti Baron.
