The University Medical Center at Princeton has announced the following births:

Twin boys were born to Plainsboro residents Betsianne and Franklin Carpio, January 3.

A son was born to Plainsboro Sushama Vaddineni and Vamsi Nama, January 12.

Daughters were born to Plainsboro residents Stephanie S. Rangel, January 16; and Melissa and Eric Norrbom, January 17.

Daughters were born to West Windsor residents Jenny and Robert Davis, January 3; and Dawn and Jeffrey Agugliaro, January 8.

Norma “Nicky” Geckeler Saltz, 80, of Ewing died December 25. She lived in West Windsor for 25. Born in Philadelphia, she taught reading and writing at Jamesburg Prison and New Grange School.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise Brunker, Jane Saltz, and Juliette Saltz; and sister, Sarah Schaefer. Donations may be made to NAMI Mercer (namimercer.org) or Pinelands Preservation Alliance (pinelandsalliance.org).

Charles Hewins Sr., 88, of Hightstown died January 1 at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Survivors include a son, Paul Hewins of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to the VFW Post No. 5700, 140 Dutch Neck Road, Hightstown 08520.

John J. Potocki Sr., 91, of Hamilton died January 3. Survivors include a grandson, Michael J. Mraz of Plainsboro.

Alice Winters Calman, 91, died January 4 at the Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing Center in Somerset. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Ellen Calman of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Foundations at the Wilf Campus, 350 Demott Lane, Somerset 08873; Kidney and Urology Foundation of America, 2 W47th Street, Suite 401, NY, NY 10036; or Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick.

Marian Melson “Trinka” Moore, 86, of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, died January 4 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy C. Foreman and James Tamasi of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to Hagerstown Sunrise Rotary, 480 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Lowell Stevenson Hunter, 97, of West Amwell died January 5. Survivors include a cousin, Walter C. Hunter and his wife, Nancy, of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Howell Living History Farm, 101 Hunter Road, Titusville 08560.

Helen Freed, 87, of Berkeley Township died January 13. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Linda Freed of Plainsboro. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.

John William Harkins, 55, died January 15 in Defiance, Ohio. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Bill Wesp of Plainsboro.

Henry E. Harney, 85, of Monroe died January 16 at the Wynwood at Forsgate. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and John Terebey of Princeton Junction, and grandchildren, Amanda and John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park. Burial will follow in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Donations may be made to Caring Hospice of Edison, 1090 King Georges Post Road, Edison 08837.

Paul Finkelstein, 89, of West Windsor died January 17. Born in New York City, he graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in chemistry. He served in the Navy during World War II. He later received a PhD from Polytechnic Institute in organic chemistry.

He was an industrial scientist in Chicago at the Toni Company. In 1968 he moved to New Jersey to join Carter-Wallace and retired from Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick in 1990. He was the co-inventor on five U.S. patents.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Summers; and son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Finkelstein and Eleanor Pollak; and a sister, Sylvia Brody. The period of mourning will be observed through Saturday, January 21, at the Finkelstein residence. Donations may be made to Congregation Beth Chaim, 329 Village Road, West Windsor.
