A Trenton man was sentenced to 190 months in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl and illegally possessing ammunition, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced.
Jaquan Picott, 30, received concurrent sentences of 190 months for drug trafficking and 180 months for ammunition possession by a convicted felon. He previously pleaded guilty to both charges in federal court.
Federal investigators said Picott sold approximately 450 grams of fentanyl, unserialized firearms known as “ghost guns,” and ammunition in Ocean and Mercer counties between December 2022 and April 2023. He was initially arrested in June 2023.
Picott fled while on pre-trial supervision in December 2024 and remained a fugitive until his capture by U.S. Marshals in June.
The arrest was made by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, which specializes in apprehending dangerous fugitives.
“We will not tolerate drug traffickers who poison our community with fentanyl,” Habba said.
“This sentence reflects our commitment to holding accountable those who seek to flood our neighborhoods with deadly drugs,” she said. “And if you run to avoid justice, know that we and our law enforcement partners will find you to face your fate.”
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other federal agencies starting in December 2022.
The case was prosecuted in U.S. District Court in Trenton before Judge Zahid N. Quraishi.
The Regional Fugitive Task Force, formed in 2002, focuses on investigating and apprehending the region’s most dangerous and violent fugitives to improve community safety.
