Viola Mattie Kehler, 88, of Trevorton died April 17. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Kehler of West Windsor. Services will be held Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Trevorton.

William Flemer III, 85, died April 22 at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was president of Princeton Nurseries, located in Plainsboro West Windsor, Princeton, Kingston, and South Brunswick, from 1972 until 1992. Flemer planted the forsythia hedge-row on Washington Road in West Windsor.

Born in Princeton, he attended Miss Fine’s School, Nassau Street School, Princeton Country Day School, and Lawrenceville School. He graduated with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in botany from Yale University. During World War II, he was involved in counter-intelligence activities in the Ghost Army.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth S. Flemer; daughters, Louise W. Gross and Harriette D. Hesselein, both of Alletnown; son, William Flemer IV of Princeton; and nine grandchildren.

Josephine F. Vito, 76, of Beechwood, died April 24, at Leisure Park in Lakewood. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gina Marie and Joseph Reo of West Windsor; and grandchildren, Veronica and Jesse Reo.

Elwin E. Smith, 84, of Darien, Connecticut, died April 25. A former Princeton area resident, he was chief operating office of AMAX Energy and Chemical Group, and founded Elwin Smith International, an energy and minerals consulting business. Survivors include a son, Pietro of West Windsor.

Timothy Andrew Hatcher, 41, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, died April 25. Survivors include a brother, Ronald Hatcher of Plainsboro.

Gerald McNeil, 65, of Yardville died April 28 at home. Born in Trenton, he was a Hamilton resident most of his life. He was formerly employed with the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District. He was the former owner of J&J Cleaning Company.

Salvatore Chicco of North Merrick, New York, died April 28. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Giuliano and Meg Chicco; and grandchildren, Lily and Anna Chicco, all of West Windsor.

Reverend Donald J. O’Leary, 96, of St. Aloysius Church, Plantsville, died April 29 at St. Mary Hospital, Waterbury. Survivors include a niece, Kathleen Byrnes Troy of Plainsboro. Donations may be sent to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt Street, Plantsville, CT 06479.

John Thomas Murphy, 80, of Danville, Virginia died May 5 at his residence. Survivors include a son, Joey Murphy of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115.

Josephine C. Mitchell, 81, of Hamilton died May 5 at home. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Deborah Mitchell and John Falk of West Windsor. Donations may be made to the Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton 08053, or St. Mark Lutheran Church, 350 White Horse Avenue, Hamilton 08610.

Edward Rochelle, 68, of Plainsboro died May 8 at his residence. Born in Rockaway Beach, New York, Rochelle was a former resident of Dix Hills, New York. A graduate of City College of New York, he received his master’s in social work from Adelphia University and was a social worker in private practice before retiring.

Survivors include his wife Linda Copen Rochelle; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jerry Fields of West Windsor; a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Rochelle and Carol Lynaugh of Chester; a brother, David Rochelle of South Setauket, New York; and six grandchildren, Hailey, Erika, Jenna, Jeremy, Daniel, and Lauren.

The period of mourning will be observed at the Rochelle residence in Plainsboro.
