Three young girls from West Windsor and Plainsboro donated 43 inches of hair to Locks of Love, the non-profit group that makes free hairpieces for children with medical illnesses. Natasha Singer of Plainsboro, and twin sisters Corinne and Shannon Smith of West Windsor had their hair cut at the Short Cuts Children’s Hair Salon located at the Foxmoor Shopping Center in Robbinsville. Elaine Drager Smith, Corinne and Shannon’s mother, arranged for the girls to get their hair cut together and she also donated 10 inches of her hair.##M:[more]##
The girls are all active in the community as Brownies in the West Windsor Plainsboro Girl Scout Service Unit. They also dance with the West Windsor Plainsboro Dance Company and play soccer with the West Windsor Plainsboro Soccer Association.
Natasha, inspired by one of her older cousins who had donated her hair to Locks of Love, will be entering second grade at Town Center Elementary School Plainsboro, and Corinne and Shannon will be second graders at Dutch Neck Elementary School.
“Each of the girls have been waiting a long time for their hair to be long enough for the 10-inch minimum required,” says Pam Singer, Natasha’s mother. “What normally would have been just another daily errand turned into a memorable event of caring for the young girls, one where they could literally give of themselves.”
