This Saturday, local musicians will come together to raise money for local children with special needs at the Music for Moore benefit concert.
The family-friendly concert will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 from from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Princeton Elks Lodge. Ten bands will perform to raise money to send local children to Elks Camp Moore, a specialist camp in New Jersey for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities.
The Music for Moore concert began in 2015, when Helen O’Shea, a leader at Einstein Alley Musicians Collaborative, performed with Bozic Voice Studio. She had the idea to bring the younger students at BVS together with the seasoned musicians at EAMC for a benefit concert. O’Shea pitched the idea to Rich Bozic and together they met with Stu Malakof of the Princeton Elks Lodge to create the first Music for Moore in November of that year.
Since then, Music for Moore concerts have raised $9,000, enough to cover tuition for 18 local special needs children to attend the summer camp.
Doors open for this year’s Music for Moore concert at 5 p.m. to allow guests time to enjoy food and drink before the concert, which begins at 5:30 p.m. This year’s lineup of bands includes Autumn Dragonfly, Corey RJ & Kara Lia, Dusty Rivers Band, Helen O’Shea & Shanakee, Loveland, Perfect Alibi, Rebel Alliance, So It Goes, The Beagles and Uncle Albert.
The bands will be joined by 10 Bozic voice studio vocalists: David Lederman, Drew Turock, Frank Acevedo, Gerry Hazel, Jess Kehoe, Lauren Pelaia, Madison Keith, Paul Bejgrowicz, Rebecca Gampel and Shruti Venkat.
