Plainsboro Township plans to officially launch “Leave a Legacy, Build a Library,” its capital campaign to raise money for a new library. The Township seeks to raise $1.5 million towards the cost of the new building, which is expected to be completed by 2010. The total cost of the building will be around $10 million.
Mayor Peter Cantu said he expects that after the event, scheduled for Thursday, November 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Harrison Conference Center and Hotel on Scudders Mill Road, that the township will be halfway to its goal. Rush Holt is expected to be in attendance, as well as other business and community leaders.Plans for the 34,000 square foot library include an art gallery, a glass front, and a three-story tower. The library will be located on the village green as part of the village center. The land was donated by Sharbell, which will construct the building along with the rest of the development.
Princeton University has already pledged a $100,000 donation. For further information about the event and about making a donation, contact the Township of Plainsboro at (609) 799-0909.
