Deaths

Mary Beckwith Marshall, 67, died on June 7. She taught art at West Windsor-Plainsboro Middle School during her professional career. A celebration of her life is planned for Labor Day weekend in the Princeton area. Donations may be made to Hospice Foundation of W.N.Y., 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, NY 14227; or the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 609, New York 10038, or to transplant support organizations and hospices.

Elizabeth Ann Terry, 64, of Princess Anne, Maryland, died June 7 at her home. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Johnson and Henry Cole of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, Box 1733, Salisbury, Maryland 21802.

Annette DiPolvere, 69, of East Brunswick died June 9 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She retired in 1982 after 25 years with the Department of Institutions and Agencies in Trenton. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Edward J. and Lucia DiPolvere of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Saint Joachim’s Church, 19 Bayard Street, Trenton 08611.

Esther Lang, 88, died June 9 in Connecticut. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Allan and Patti Lang of West Windsor. A memorial service will be held in Connecticut in August.

Herbert Spielman, 92, died June 10 at the Pavilions at Forrestal. Born in Germany, he lived in Springfield before moving to Plainsboro four years ago. Owner and operator of Roxy Interior Decorator’s in Irvington and South Orange, he retired in 1980.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Joan Spielman of West Windsor; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Barry Zicherman of Skillman; five grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Jason, Matthew, and Amanda; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Trevor, Kyle, and Jessica.

Judy A. Slavkovsky, 45, of Plainsboro died June 14 at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Trenton, she formerly lived in Lawrenceville and Hopewell. A graduate of Mercer Community College, she was a leasing agent for the Equity Residence Company in Plainsboro and had been employed by Merrill Lynch.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Anne Giovacchini; a son, Louis Steven Giovacchini; her parents, John and Eileen Myers Slavkovsky; three brothers, John, James, and Jeffrey Slavkovsky; her paternal grandmother, Anne Slavkovsky; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Nellie Corso Vigna, 87, of Hamilton died June 15 at Care One in Hamilton. Survivors include grandson Michael Vigna of Plainsboro.

Lester B. Brown Sr., 81, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died June 19 in a local nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Brown Stevens of Plainsboro. Services were June 23.

Henry J. Martini, 59, of Perrineville died June 18 at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He worked for Bristol Myers Squibb in Plainsboro for over 35 years. Stanford M. Hettinger, 95, died June 19 at the Monroe Village Health Care Center, Monroe Township. He lived in Plainsboro for 38 years prior to moving to Monroe in 2002.

He worked as a quality control manager in the dairy industry at Dairyman’s League, Farmers and Consumers Dairy, Walker Gordon Dairy, and Jacobus Pharmaceutical before retiring at the age of 93.

Survivors include his son John of Lincoln, New Hampshire, and a grandson Michael.

John Solomon Early, 89, died June 18 in the Holyoke Soldiers Home after a long illness. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Ruth E. and Theodore M. Williams off Plainsboro; and grandson Vance E. Williams of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.

Correction

In the obituary for Jean E. Smith, who died May 26 at the age of 84, the News incorrectly identified the hometown of her son, Earl L. Smith III. He now lives in Sutton, Alaska.
