Emily Benjamin and Doug Vorp were married on April 9 in Gambrills, Maryland.##M:[more]##
The bride is the daughter of Dee Dee Dodson (former WW-P School Board member) and Donald Benjamin of Plainsboro. A graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 2000, she graduated from Mercer Community College in 2002. In 2004 she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and math from College of New Jersey.
A middle school math teacher in Cranbury School, she serves as the school’s Mathcounts coach, and has been the choreographer for the spring musical for the past two years. At Plainsboro Library, she is the summer program director, teaches theater programs, and presents the Thursday night music storytime. She also teaches theater workshops with Youth Stages.
As a student at Mercer County Community College, the bride received a Phi Theta Kappa Award presented to outstanding students who will be continuing their education at four-year colleges. As vice president of Phi Theta Kappa, she set up an E-mail list and organized several charitable projects.
Middlesex County’s Junior Miss 2000, she was the state chairman of the New Jersey Junior Miss Program last year. “I gave up being chair this year because of the wedding, but I would love to go back to it eventually,” she says. “It is a wonderful program for high school senior girls.”
Bridal attendants were Rachel Moss, maid of honor; and bridesmaids Colleen Hackett, Melissa Katz, Jennifer Stults, and Michele Holder-Myers.
The groom is the son of Donald and Dorothy Vorp of Plainsboro. A graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 1992, he is a graduate of Mercer County College and attended Rider University. A career firefighter in Allentown Upper Freehold Township, Vorp is deputy chief of the Plainsboro Fire Department.
Groom attendants were Brian Stults, best man; and Corey Towner, Ronald Katz, Ken Brown, Darrin Myers, and Mark Benjamin.
The couple, who live in Plainsboro, plan a honeymoon in August.
Mustafa Jaffery and Sherazad Saleem were married June 30 in Larchmont, New York.
The groom is the son of Farzana and Zaheer Jaffery of West Windsor. He is a manager in American Express’ strategy department in New York City.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Zoovia Hamiduddin and Muhammad Saleem of Larchmont, New York. She is a data analyst for Goldman Sachs in Jersey City.
The wedding, and the couple’s courtship, were featured in the New York Times on Sunday, July 9. Although both Jaffery and Saleem were against matchmaking, his aunt, Dr. Maduda Malik, began plotting their introduction in 2003, and the couple were engaged in December, 2005.
