Construction work has begun on the new Jewish Community Campus on Clarksville Road. The project is expected to take about 16 months and be completed sometime next May.
The campus includes one 78,000 square-foot building and one 7,000 square-foot structure for the day camp. Both were originally scheduled to be completed in fall, 2009, but the project faced delays.
The campus will include a child care and early education center, health and fitness facilities, a Kosher cafe, private JFCS suites, and offices for the United Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation. It will also include recreation fields and a swimming pool.
JCC Executive Director Drew Staffenberg, who has served as executive director for five years, has accepted a position as Federation Executive Director in Calgary, Alberta, and will leave his position in Mercer County in three months.
