Plans for the proposed Jewish Community Campus on an 81.36-acre tract on Clarksville Road in West Windsor received unanimous preliminary and final site plan approval from the Planning Board on December 12.
The campus, including one 78,”000 square-foot building and one 7,”000 square-foot structure for the day camp, scheduled to be completed in fall, 2009, is projected to cost $28.5 million, and will include a child care and early education center, health and fitness facilities, a Kosher cafe, private JFCS suites, and offices for the United Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation. It will also include recreation fields and a swimming pool. The property is designed to accommodate future expansion of the facilities.
The board approved the application after nearly three hours of testimony and review of conditions the JCC professionals must meet before they build. The board also ran through the details they were directed by the Site Plan Review Advisory Board to hash out before heading to the Planning Board.
Those included a full traffic study, more details of internal operations, concerns over a proposed left turn lane on site, and a description of how the pick-up and drop-off of students occurs.
Board professionals said for the most part, these issues were addressed. “The applicants did, within a very short timeframe, an extraordinary job in getting all of the items completed,” Township Planner John Madden said.
