Deaths

Carolyn Tryon, 71, died September 30 in Urbana, Illinois. Survivors include a sister, Patricia T. Tindall of West Windsor. A service will be held November 23 at Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church of Champaign. Donations may be sent to Provena Covenant Hospital Care Program, 1400 West Park, Urbana, IL 61801.

Alfonso Leroy Weaver Sr. of Trenton died October 5. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael, Plainsboro Township Committee member, and Stephanie Weaver of Plainsboro; and grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Danyelle. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society.

Harold R. Britton Sr., 88, died October 6 at his Virginia Beach home. He formerly owned and operated a farm in Plainsboro. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marjorie A. Britton; daughter and son-in-law Jan B. and John Anderson of Mechanicsville, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Robert D. and Susan F. Britton of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and Harold Russell Jr. and Doris S. Britton of Mantea, North Carolina; sister Muriel Schuessler of Cranbury; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Seymour Altucher, 69, of West Windsor died October 7 at Raritan Bay Medical Center from complications of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered in July, 2003. Born in New York City, he graduated from the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan, and received bachelor and master degrees in music composition from the University of Michigan.

He founded Consco Enterprises, a software company, in 1968, took it public in 1983, and sold it to Computer Associates in 1988. He retired as CEO in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Altucher; daughters, Bonnie Maitenaz and Lauren Altucher; son James Altucher; daughter-in-law, Anne Altucher; son-in-law, Michael Maitenaz; and three grandchildren. Guestbook at www.nj.com/timesobits.

Richard A. Minsker, 63, of Baldwinsville, New York, died October 11 of complications from bile duct cancer. Survivors daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mark Leyden of Plainsboro, and grandsons, Chris and Jeff Leyden. Donations may be made to the First Methodist Church, 604 Oswego Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.

Lydia Oryshkevich, 81, of Plainsboro died October 12 at home. She was born in Lviv, West Ukraine and lived in Brooklyn before moving to Plainsboro.

Survivors include her husband Joseph Oryshkevich; son Bohdan Oryshkevich of New York City; daughters and son-in-law, Larissa Oryshkevich of Durham, North Carolina, Zoya and Gary Pugh of South Brunswick, and Irina Oryshkevich of New York City; brother Roman Jackiw of Boston; and five grandchildren.

Kathryn Phillips Schmidt, 63, of West Windsor died on October 13 at her home. Born and raised in Rosendale, Wisconsin, she moved to the West Windsor area in 1969.

She received her bachelor of science in economics and her master of science in nutritional science from the University of Wisconsin. She worked as a dietician at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, Mercer County, and the State.

Survivors include her husband, John Schmidt; and her son, Michael Phillip Schmidt.

Gary Buscalferri, 39, died on October 13 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after a lengthy illness. Survivors include his sister, Gina Wesp of Plainsboro.

Suzanna T. Starace, 41, of West Windsor, died October 14 at University Medical Center at Princeton.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Michael J. Starace; sons, Benjamin Taylor Starace and Brian Michael Starace; her mother, Ann Burke Taylor; brothers, Tim and Michael Taylor; sister, MaryAnn Taylor; her mother-in-law, Veronica Starace; and her father-in-law, Nicholas Starace.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. David the King Church. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of New Jersey, 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville 08648.

Elizabeth R. Gauthier, 85, died October 16 in Meadow Lakes Healthcare Center in Hightstown. Born in East Orange, she was a former Plainsboro resident.

Survivors include her husband, Robert V. Gauthier; her daughter, Kathleen M. Francica of Huntsville, Alabama; her sons, Robert V. Gauthier of Santa Ana, California, and Thomas J. Gauthier of Monmouth Junction; her brothers, John and Clemence Rachel; and eight grandchildren.

Frances Nowak Kosakowski, 100, died October 16 at the Pavillion at Forrestal, Plainsboro. Born in Burlington, she was a Trenton resident since 1906.

Survivors include two daughters, Marion K. Leibensperger of Hamiltonp and Louise Klama of Bordentown; three grandchildren and spouses; five great-grandchildren; and her brother John L. Novak of Hamilton Square.

Jessie C. Grabowski, 86, of Plainsboro died October 17 at Merwick Rehabilitation Hospital and Nursing Care. Born in Newark, she moved to Plainsboro five years ago. She worked at Western Electric, Westinghouse, and TungSol, and provided artistic services for Broadway Photo Company.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joe Reynolds of Plainsboro; son and daughter-in-law John and Diane Grabowski of Somers, Connecticut; sister Joanna Williamson of Trenton, Florida; and grandchildren Christopher R. and Patricia A. Reynolds.
