The annual picnic celebrating the 27th anniversary of the India Foundation of Metropolitan Princeton will be held Sunday, August 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mercer County Park East. Admission is free for members and $13 for non-members.
One of the organizers is Anandamohan Sothi, a resident of West Windsor for 15 years who is in his fourth term as president of the organization. He works for Bank of America in Hopewell.
“The picnic is a place for those who are interested in the Indian culture, food, and community,” says Sothi. “IFMP gives people the opportunity to find out what is going on in our community and build friendships.”
Sothi’s wife, Maharani Anandamohan, works in patient marketing in Princeton. Their son, Jaishan Anandamohan, graduated from High School South in 2006 and is working for Merrill Lynch in Hopewell. Their daughter, Janisa Anandamohan, graduated from High School South in 2009 and is a student at Rutgers University.
The day includes food and activities for all ages. “For sports enthusiasts we have cricket, volleyball, and football,” says Sothi. “For kids we have a running race, three-legged race, and face painting.” There will also be musical chairs, movies, songs, and Bingo.
