Prototype G 11306, a rookie, all-girls FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team with students from WW-P middle schools and High School North, recently won the Think Award at the New Jersey FTC Southern League Tournament.
Members of the team include Aparna Rajesh (team co-captain, lead of programming team, and lead of engineering notebook team), Sriya Bapatla (team co-captain, and lead of business team), Shreya Hegde (lead of build team), Renny Victoria (lead of Outreach team), Prital Joshi (lead of CAD team), Veepra Mishra, Shwetha Raju (lead of social media team), Aditi Gorthy, and Kavyasri Yakkala.
The Think Award is presented to a team for their creative solutions when facing engineering obstacles and noteworthy documentation in their engineering notebook.
They were also nominated for the Inspire Award and were the fourth seed alliance captain that day. The Inspire Award celebrates a team who embraces all aspects of the FIRST program and displays outstanding success while doing it.
Their double-qualification that day earned them a spot at the FIRST Tech Challenge New Jersey “Garden State Rumble” Championship on Feb. 26, where they were expected to competing against some of the top teams from New Jersey.
The teams mentors are Paula Jensen, Richard Jensen, Charles Swanson, Laura Gray, Jen Legaspi, and Manish Kumar. And thank you to their coaches Tara O’Shea and Pari Shaik.
Deaths
Carolyn Aldridge, 92, formerly of Princeton Junction, died on Feb. 12.
She lived in Princeton Junction between 1969 and 1971, and moved back again in 1973. She worked as a laboratory technician at Princeton Biomedix in Princeton Junction for many years as she continued to raise her family. She moved with her husband, George, to Skillman in 2004.
She is is survived by her three children, Scott, Ronald and Elizabeth King; and by three grandchildren.
Seanne M. (Sweet) Everling, 80, formerly of West Windsor, died Feb. 20. She was a retired employee of IBM Corporation after over 30 years of service. In later years she was employed at Boscov’s Department Store and was active in the West Windsor Fire Department.
She is survived by her children Ken and Susan Everling, and Laurie and Douglas Przybyla.
