As November rolls around, the football teams at WW-P are eyeing the playoffs, with North already holding a ticket to the postseason with a record of 6-2.
North defeated Hightstown, 24-17, on October 29, behind Andre Newman, who recovered a fumble in the end zone for a score, and Jaymar Anderson, who ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns. The win guaranteed home advantage for the Knights — their first home playoff game since 2004. The Knights will conclude the regular season against Hopewell Valley at home on Saturday, November 6, at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, South (4-4) kept itself in contention with a thrilling performance at home during Homecoming on October 30. The Pirates defeated Allentown, 35-27. The win was solidified when star running back Brian Schoenauer broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, when South was up 28-27.
Bijan Matthews had the go-ahead touchdown catch and finished with two touchdowns on the day. Schoenauer had another great day, running for 256 yards and three touchdowns.
South now can clinch the sixth playoff berth in its division of the CVC conference. The Pirates host Steinert on Saturday, November 6 at 2 p.m.
