“The bond between police officers is one that is so strong, one would walk through the gates of hell to help another,” writes Patrolman Robert A. Fow. “As you can imagine, medical bills for the treatment will be extensive.”
“Guns and Hoses,” a benefit softball game between the West Windsor Police Department, and fellow public servants at the West Windsor Fire Department, Princeton Junction Fire Department, and the West Windsor Emergency Services, is being organized as an annual event to help with family emergencies of their members.
This year the game will be played on Memorial Day Monday, May 29, at 2 p.m. immediately following the Township Memorial Day Parade and Services. It will be held at the High School South softball field.
Fundraising activities at the event include food, drink, and baked goods; Trenton Titan and Thunder autographed game shirts in a silent auction; and Guns and Hoses game shirts for sale. There will also be police and fire equipment displays. Children’s activities will include a dunk tank, face painting, and large inflatable bounce toys.
The Community Blood Center at 1410 Parkside Avenue in Ewing will accept both blood and platelet donations. Call 609-883-9750 for an appointment and explain that the donation is for Lt. Keith Hillman.
The West Windsor Police Department, in conjunction with the Officer Down Foundation, will also conduct a community blood drive on Friday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Princeton Junction Firehouse, 245 Clarksville Road, West Windsor.
Donations may be mailed to the West Windsor PBA, Box 246, West Windsor 08550. Checks should be made out to “West Windsor PBA #271 Keith Hillman Fund.” Donations will also be accepted at the softball game on May 29.
