The 2018 State of Robbinsville Township Pay it Forward event is almost here.
In addition to giving the Community Addiction Recovery Effort program a much-deserved shot in the arm with funds that will help Robbinsville police officers and Recovery Advocates of America offer a pathway to treatment to individuals at the time of their arrests, I also will cover a wide array of township business May 8 at The Stone Terrace By John Henry’s.
Through this printing, we have already raised over $70,000 toward the CARE effort! Enormous shout out has to go to New Jersey State Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri, whose authorization of $25,000 in forfeiture assets helped plant the seeds for this year’s theme. With the assistance of the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce, Pay it Forward events have raised over $200,000 for worthy individuals and causes since 2015. From the very beginning of this initiative we had high hopes and big plans, but I don’t think any of us could have imagined the extent we have been able to help others, including last year’s recipient Deb Dauer.
Deb was a Sharon School teacher who brought knowledge, joy and compassion to everyone she touched.
Deb fought an incredible battle with ALS before passing away last month, but her legacy of kindness and generosity will never die.
Township business residents can expect to be covered May 8 includes comprehensive updates of:
Unprecedented third consecutive municipal tax cut;
The township’s recent affordable housing win in N.J. Superior Court;
Our pending acquisition of the Mercer Mobile Home Park, which is a key component of our affordable housing inventory going forward;
Plans for the new Project Freedom in Town Center South;
Summary of the recent Maser Traffic Study;
Continued increase in home/property values and decrease in local housing inventory;
Plans to build a new court and police station in cooperation with neighboring Hightstown;
Foxmoor Plaza and Miry Run updates;
Shared Services Agreement with Robbinsville School District; and
Influx of new and valued ratables, including QuickChek (Route 526) and Wawa (Route 130).
Those who cannot attend the event, but would still like to donate can contact Jodi Stephens at jstephens@robbinsville.net. Full video of the event will be posted to YouTube within 24 hours of its conclusion.

Thank you to the Arbor Day Foundation for naming Robbinsville Township a Tree City USA Community for the seventh consecutive year.
The program is sponsored in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. More than 3,400 cities and towns have been recognized as a Tree City USA community.
This is one of those important accomplishments that often goes unnoticed, or is undervalued in the public eye, but it is one we are very proud of as Robbinsville has planted more than 12,000 trees over the past six years.
Dave Fried is the Mayor of Robbinsville Township.
