The 25th annual Founders Day Celebration commemorating the incorporation of Plainsboro township on May 6, 1919 will be held Sunday, May 2. The parade will depart from Pond View Drive, travel along Edgemere Avenue to Plainsboro Road, and continue to the municipal complex for ceremonies, activities, live entertainment, and food concessions. Admission is free and the event takes place from 12:30 to 5 p.m.
Marching in the parade this year are the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North Marching Band, Central Jersey Antique Auto Club, Wicoff School PTA, Giant Puppets, Plainsboro’s Towne Crier and Little Town Crier, Korean dancers, Chinese School, Civil War Re-Enactment Troop, Super Fresh, Chinese Lion, and MacGregor Pipe Band. Area community groups, cultural organizations, and fire and police vehicles are also in the parade.
New this year is a parade of flags celebrating Plainsboro’s cultural diversity. Children who would like to march or ride bikes may do so by joining the Kids Kaboose at Wicoff School.
The Plainsboro Museum at the Wicoff House presents displays of local history. Featured performers include Give & Take Jugglers, Mad Science, High School North Jazz Ensemble, and Society for Creative Anachronism. The Daisy Jug Band concludes the festival with a family concert.
Note that roads will be closed off for the parade, and police will be directing traffic. Parking is available to Enterprise Drive across from the municipal center. The event will be postponed only if it is raining in the morning and forecasted to continue all day. Rain date is Saturday, May 8.
