West Windsor will hold a lottery for flu vaccinations on Monday and Tuesday, November 8 and 9. ##M:[more]##
Last month Health and Human Services Director Robert Hary announced the cancellation of all of the township’s planned flu clinics due to the nationwide shortage of flu vaccine.
Since then, the township has obtained a limited amount of flu vaccine and has opted to make shots available through a lottery open only to qualified township residents.
Registration for the lottery will be taken in person at the West Windsor Senior Center at the township municipal site on Clarksville Road from 1 to 3 p.m. on November 8 and 6 to 8 p.m. on November 9. In order to qualify for the lottery, residents must meet one of the following criteria:
• A person 65 years of age or older (Medicare Part B card or identification required).
• Person of any age with a chronic illness such as heart disease, kidney disease, lung disease, cancer, or a weakened immune system. A claim of chronic illness must be supported with a physician’s script that clearly identifies the illness and a recommendation for vaccination.
• Children 6 months to 23 months of age.
Flu vaccination clinics will be conducted at the Senior Center on Tuesday, November 23, 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, this Friday, November 5, is the deadline in Plainsboro for applications for a flu vaccine lottery to be conducted by the Middlesex Board of Health. The board is making flu shots available to a limited number of residents age 65 and older.
Application forms are available at the office of the Plainsboro Township Recreation Department. The forms must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. The county will contact the winners and a clinic will be scheduled at the municipal center sometime in mid-November
