Plainsboro Police have arrested a Ewing man in connection with a fight during a basketball game at High School North last month.
Kyle M. Griffin, 19, of Pennsylvania Avenue in Ewing, was charged with aggravated assault on January 8 at Plainsboro Police headquarters, after he was arrested on an active warrant. Griffin had been identified as the actor in the altercation that took place on December 18, said Detective Russell Finkelstein.
According to police, Griffin was involved in an altercation with a 16-year-old High School North student at the end of the game, which North won against Ewing, 55-52. Griffin allegedly attacked the teen in the stands after both exchanged words about the superiority of their basketball teams.
The 16-year-old suffered an injury to his eye, while his 48-year-old mother hurt her left ankle and left forearm when she was shoved and then pinned down by someone, said police.
One Plainsboro officer, hired to provide security, was in the building at the time of the scuffle. Five additional officers responded to the scene. Griffin was charged with aggravated assault because the incident occurred at a sporting event where children under 16 were in attendance.
Griffin was processed and released after posting bond on the $5,000 bail.
