The township’s new electronic sign at the corner of Clarksville and Princeton-Hightstown roads near the Ron Rogers Arboretum has created concerns with some residents.
Members of the West Windsor Township Council reported during the July 11 meeting that the new sign, which posts messages to the community via a scrolling screen, has already generated comments from residents who say the font size could create a driving hazard.
“The lettering is too small to read,” said Councilman Charles Morgan. “It’s a problem generally with the signs in this town.”
In addition, Councilwoman Linda Geevers said that a use policy for the signs must be created.
Business Administrator Robert Hary told the council that officials were working on it. “We do have one, and we’re putting the final touches on it,” he said. The Recreation Commission is working on the policy, which is about 95 percent complete, he said.
Councilwoman Diane Ciccone said residents “are not very happy with how the sign looks,” she said. “It’s the color and the size.” Because of the smaller size, drivers may become distracted while trying to read the sign, she said. “We don’t want people to have accidents.”
