While Barbara Pfeifer has spent part of her five months on Council crusading against unsightly signs that litter the township, she has reluctantly begun to use campaign signs.
While Anklowitz has had signs along township roadways beginning a month before election day, Pfeifer began putting signs up on Saturday, October 21. Pfeifer sees no conflict in this action. “Campaign signs are OK in West Windsor. I just want to reinforce how strongly I feel about signs that come into our township that are not legal and therefore litter,” said Pfeifer.
“We will get more out over this week and then stop. Maybe put a few more out the day before election day,” said Pfeifer.
Pfeifer said she hasn’t seen any campaign signs posted illegally. She says the ordinance as written is unclear as to which signs are illegal and which are permissible. Said Pfeifer: “We must do a better job defining what is acceptable in terms of temporary signs, and when signage has crossed the line.”
