D&R Greenway Land Trust is set to host its annual Fall Native Plant Sale.
The sale is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 27 outside the Johnson Education Center, 1 Preservation Place, Princeton.
D&R Greenway’s native plants are grown from wild seeds collected from central New Jersey’s preserved land. Staff and volunteers collect seeds on the preserves in autumn. The seeds are planted and tended in the nursery throughout spring and summer.
According to D&R Greenway, native plants need less water than most ornamentals, provide essential food for wildlife and create a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem. Their flowers attract native bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
The sale features perennial flowers, shrubs, trees, grasses and sedges are available in quart and gallon-sized pots from $5 to $12. A full catalog is available online at www.drgreenway.org/PlantCatalog.html.
D&R Greenway’s Native Plant Nursery is set to offer plant sales every Friday in October, with plants discounted 25 percent. The sales are scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m.
Additionally, a selection of plants are set to be available for sale at the St. Michaels Barn Celebration; scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 at St. Michaels Farm Preserve in Hopewell.
