Deaths: June 25, 2004

Ruth Marie Petrykarnyn, 24, died of cancer on June 10 at Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born in Westfield, she grew up in West Windsor, where she attended Maurice Hawk School.

A graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1997, she received degrees from Acadia University and University of Kings College.

Survivors include her mother, Gail MacLauchlan Petrykanyn of Sarasota, Florida; sister, Patricia Valentyne of Toronto; brothers, Collin Petrykanyn of Halifax, and John, Lawrence and Richard Petrykanyn, all of Toronto.

Contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ruth M. Petrykanyn Fund, Acadia University, Wolfville, NS B4P 2RS, Canada.

Nuria R. Wemple, 80, of Plainsboro died June 10 at University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Spain, she came to the United States in 1956 and moved to the Pavilions at Windrows in Plainsboro in 2000. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Stephanie Wemple of Plainsboro. June Eicholtz, 77, of Avenel, died June 11. Survivors include her sister, Frances Guzy, or West Windsor. Contributions may be made to the Friends of Linden Animal Shelter, Box 4042, Linden 07036.

Earl W. Danley, 83, died June 12 at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville, Illinois. He worked as a dairyman for the Walker Gordon Farm in Plainsboro and was a member of the Plainsboro Gunning Club. Burial was in Hamilton.

Grace M. Seaman Conover, 86, of West Windsor, died June 13 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Her variety of jobs throughout her lifetime included theater, catering, and working at McGraw-Hill. Survivors include her son, Robert Conover of West Windsor; three sisters, Verna Mulligan of Arizona, Mary Gander of South Carolina, and Roberta Johnson of New Hampshire; and a sister-in-law, Sherron Seaman.

Michael J. Skrypa, 76, of Florham Park, died at the Morris Hills Multi Care Center on June 13. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Michael Vogen, of West Windsor; son and daughter-in-law, John and Camille Skrypa, of West Windsor; and five grandsons. Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Green Village, 500 Spring Valley Road, Green Village 07935.

Gerry L. Chamberlain, 59, of Auburn, Maine, died June 13 at Central Maine Medical Center. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Louis and Bruce Smith of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Arbor House, 284 Main Street, Lewiston, Maine 04240.

Christopher P. Cantwell, 44, of Nutley died June 17 at home. He was a former West Windsor resident.

A graduate of Drew University, he received a master’s degree in finance from Notre Dame University. He was employed by AM Best & Company in Oldwick.

Survivors include his wife Caryn, his parents, Loretta and Bernard J. Cantwell Jr., brothers, Thomas A. and Matthew Cantwell; and sisters, Regina and Bernadette Cantwell, Monica Doran, and Elizabeth Norris. Private funeral services were held at the Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Avenue, Harrison.

Alma Luther Dorer, 80, of Manahawkin, died June 20 at Barnegat Nursing Home. Born in Plainsboro, she lived in Perkasie, Pennsylvaia, and moved to Manahawkin 18 years ago.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Dorer; three sons, Robert E. Thousand of Oak, California, Craig L. of Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Michael A. of Tucson, Arizona; and her brother Raymond Luther of Mercerville. Services were at Thomas L. Shinn Funeral Home in Manahawkin.

Henry Nelson Appelson, 82, of Plainsboro died June 22 in The Elms of Cranbury. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Riceman Appelson; two sons, Stuart Appelson of Plainsboro and Martin Appelson of Lawrenceville; and five grandchildren. The period of mourning will be observed at the residence of Stuart Appelson. Contributions may be offered to the American Cancer Society.

Contributions may be made to the Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center, New York, New York 10023; American Cancer Society, 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville 08648; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
