Danielle V. Geha, 57, of West Windsor died on July 18 in Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, Pennsylvania. She was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

A graduate of Goddard College, she was a bookkeeper for Richard Edward Geha in North Brunswick.

Survivors include her mother, Rose Roe of Williamsburg, Virginia; two daughters, Heather Garr of Somerset, and Holly DeSando of Pompton Lakes; two brothers, Robert Roe of Dallas, Texas, and Ralph Roe of Williamsburg, Virginia; a sister, Debbie Stevens of Meadville, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.

Arkadij Jakowenko, 105, of West Windsor died July 20 at Merwick Rehabilitation Center, Princeton. Born in Poltava, Ukraine, Jakowenko came to the United States in 1949. He lived in West Windsor for the past 27 years. He retired in 1970 after many years of service with the Cutrofello Creamery in Stratford, Connecticut.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Valentina and Victor Tarassov of West Windsor; three grandchildren and their spouses, Victor V. and Kathleen Tarassov, Sophia and Joshua Blodgett, and Alexei Tarassov; three great-granddaughters, Tatiana, Christina, and Antonina Tarassov; two great-grandsons, George and Aiden; and his niece, Katia Boso.

Paul D. Bertles, 77, of West Windsor died July 18 at his home. Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.

Bertles, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, served on the USS Everglades AD24, and earned the Navy occupation service medal and national defense service ribbon.

Bertles, who had worked for Hydro Carbon Research, RCA Astro during the development of the space program and at McGraw Hill, retired from Mobil Research and Development in Pennington as a technician. He was a member of the West Windsor Senior Citizens Club, the Hightstown VFW, and the owner of Bertles Antiques in Robbinsville.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ramona Mull Bertles; a son Timothy Bertles of West Windsor; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Estelle and Leon Herman of Chesterfield, and Carol and Robert Hullfish of Lawrenceville; a sister-in-law, Joan Lup of Bordentown; three grandchildren, Kelly M. Bertles of Hamilton Township and Kevin T. and David J. Bertles with whom he resided; and nine nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Helen M. Black, 96, of Plainsboro died July 22 at the Pavilions at Forrestal. She co-owned Blackie’s Taxi Service in Princeton until 1978 when she retired.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra E. and Bruce Duffy of West Windsor; sister Ethel Brockelbank of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren Loren Duffy of O’Fallon, Illinois, Lisa Toth of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, and Mitchell Duffy of Mendon, Vermont.

Mary Victoria Moffat, 87, of Hillsborough, died July 22, in the Princeton Care Center. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Moffat of West Windsor, and her granddaughters, Jennifer and Erica Moffat. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

Herbert T. Scheuren, 70, of Harleysville died July 25. Donations may be made to Second Chance, 182 Conover Road, West Windsor 08550. Scheuren, a charter member of Second Chance, lived 16 years after a heart transplant and 10 years after a liver transplant.

Richard P. Apgar, 80, of Hamilton died July 25 at home. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and John Wilus of West Windsor; granddaughter Alexis Wilus of West Windsor; and a great-grandson, Bryce Wilus of West Windsor.

Geza Joseph Konrad, 88, of Monroe died July 25 in the University Medical Center at Princeton. Survivors include a niece and her husband, Heidi and Cabot Knowlton of Plainsboro. Joseph A. Piegari Jr., 36, of Plainsboro died July 26 at home. Born in Summit, he was a licensing agent for Interpool.

Survivors include his father and stepmother Joe and Deirdre Piegari of Wellington, Florida; mother and stepfather Christine and Jack King of Hillside; grandparents Joe and Ann Piegari of Newark; and brother Jonathan of Florida.

Maria Victoria Fernandez, 79, of West Windsor died July 27 at Park Place Center, South Brunswick. She was born in Cienfuegos, Las Villas, Cuba.

Survivors include her sons, Pedro and Gilbert Fernandez; daughter Maria R. Alvarez; sisters Consuelo Gallardo, Caridad Martinez, Maggie Lazuakas, and Esparanza Muniz; brother Francisco Martinez; grandchildren Eliseo, Luis and Caridad Sierra, and Daniel, Michelle, Adrian, and Julian Fernandez; and great grandchildren Anastasia Freyre and Cinthia, Eliseo, and Savanah Sierra.

Arrangements were by A.S. Cole Funeral Home, Cranbury.

Hilda Elizabeth Moran Ongrady, 86, of Hopewell died July 28. Donations may be made to the Animal Placement Agency of the Windsors (APAW), Box 162, West Windsor 08550.

Robert Lee Horst Jr., 57, of Plainsboro died July 29 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born in Spokane, Washington, he lived in the Plainsboro area since 1978. A graduate of the University of California Riverside, he received his doctorate in economics from the University of Wyoming. He was a research assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and then an environmental economist at Mathtech. He retired as a vice president in 2002. He was also a consultant with the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C..

He was a member of the Plainsboro Township Environmental Advisory Committee, the International Society of Ecological Economists, the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, and the American Economic Association.

Horst, who battled kidney disease for more than 40 years, was active with Trans-Atlantic Renal Network as a member of the board of trustees, on the medical review board, and on the patient advisory committee. In the 1980s he helped develop the Patient’s Bill of Rights for Dialysis Patients. In 2006, he won the Ahmet Ahmet Award for contributions to the local dialysis community sponsored by the Trans-Atlantic Renal Network.

Survivors include his wife Suzette Herndon Horst of Plainsboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Michael Trent; and a niece, Lisa Wisniewski all of San Bernardino, California.

Nicholas “Pickles” Cicchino Sr., of West Amwell, died July 30 at his home. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Chris Bauer of West Windsor.
