Sumner A. Herzog, 66, of Morris died April 21. Survivors include his daughter, Amy Herzog Woods of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Cancer Institute of New Jersey, 195 Little Albany Street, New Brunswick 08903, or to Chabad Jewish Center of SE Morris County, 42 Park Avenue, Madison 07940.

Anthony L. deMarrais, 54, of Whiting died April 23 at home. Survivors include a stepson, Kyle Grant of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to Popcorn Park Zoo, Box 43, Forked River 08731.

Dr. S.M. “Chris” Gadekar, 89, of West Windsor died April 23 in Meadow Lakes in Hightstown. Active in community service, he was a founder of the West Windsor Senior Center and served in the Lions Club. He studied watercolor landscape painting with artists Marge Chavoosian and Elizabeth Lombardi.

Born in India, Gadekar graduated from Bombay University and earned his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the University of Maryland. While at Lederle Laboratories, he made significant contributions to the early development of antibiotics and treatments for hypertension. After moving to New Jersey in 1967, he worked for Carter-Wallace and consulted area research labs.

Survivors include his daughters, Christine Gadekar of West Windsor, and Elaine Warsinger of Jackson; a brother, Shrikant Gadekar; a sister, Sheela Mayenkar; grandchildren, Clay and Kyle Gadekar, Matthew Warsinger, and Aneesha Georgiano; and great-grandchildren. Eva T. Coombs, 85, of Lawrenceville died April 24. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Maria Coombs-Hunter and Timothy Hunter of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 South Sixth Street, New Bedford, MA 02740.

Joseph DiMeglio, 83, of West Windsor, died Friday, April 30 at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born and raised in Princeton, he lived in West Windsor for the past 55 years. He retired in 1991 after working for 24 years for Princeton Township Recreation. He was a longtime coach in West Windsor Little League.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Tash DiMeglio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Fowler of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Pamela DiMeglio and George Schultz of West Windsor; seven grandchildren, Amy Such, Claudia and Joseph DiMeglio, T.J. Fowler, Kelly Perry, and Nicholas and Christopher Schultz; a great-grandson; his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Ilse DiMeglio of West Windsor; sisters and brother-in-law, Carmela Luccarelli of Stuart, Florida, and Caroline and John Janick of Fort Myers, Florida; and his aunt, Theresa Sodomin of West Trenton.

Joseph Licciardello, 76, of West Windsor died April 29 at University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Manahawkin, he lived in West Windsor since 1960. He co-owned and operated Luxe French Dry Cleaners since 1973.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edith Reed Licciardello; daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Licciardello-Kachmar and Robert Kachmar of Groveville, and Cindy Licciarello of Clarksburg; a granddaughter, Laura Licciardello of Hamilton; a sister and brother-in-law, Vita and Fred Diefenbach of Whiting.

Marie-Pierre Pamela Diana of North Stonington, Connecticut died April 28 at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Isabelle and Erik Perry of West Windsor; their children, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Daniel and his wife, Frances, and their daughter, Cameron. Donations may be made to St. Bernard High School Tuition Assistance Program, 1593 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville, CT 06382-1399.

Frank P. DeMatteis, 88, died April 30 at the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, Piscataway, Survivors include two sisters, Ann Gangale and Diane Mueller, both of West Windsor. Donations may be made to either the Living Stones Project or the Property Committee at Christ Church, 5 Paterson Street, New Brunswick 08901.

Dolores M. Gilormo of Princeton died May 2 at home. She was the secretary to the director of special services at West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District prior to her retirement. Monroe C. Watts, 67, of Plainsboro died May 2 at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born and educated in Sumrall, Mississippi, he moved to Plainsboro more than 30 years ago. A longtime bus driver with Suburban Bus Lines, he retired as a forklift driver after 30 years with Delphi (formerly Delco), Division of General Motors.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Watts of Plainsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Kevin Mitchell of Bensalem, Pennsylvania; sons and daughter-in-law, Monroe Watts Jr. of North Brunswick, and Alonzo and Tasha Watts of Easton, Pennsylvania, and James Watts of Plainsboro; one stepdaughter, Gloria Smalls; one stepson, Quinton Rolle, and his wife, Jocelyn, all of Trenton; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Baker of Waldron, Arkansas; three brothers, James Bernard Watts of Willis Point, Texas, and Leonard Virgil Watts and Zachary Watts, both of Houston, Texas.

Sally Ann Steele, 50, of West Windsor died May 4 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she lived in West Windsor for 38 years. She was a library assistant for more than 12 years with the Mercer County Library, West Windsor.

Survivors include her father, Ryan Edward Steele; sister, Ann Steele; grandmother, Margaret Steele; and three aunts, Susie Seward, Nancy Haase, and Katy Sullivan. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at St. David the King Church, 1 New Village Road West, West Windsor. Barbara A. Tereszczyn, 80, of Trenton died May 4 at her home. Survivors include a sister, Kay Carter of West Windsor.

Sally Cavico, 88, of Ewing died May 5. Survivors include a nephew, Ken Jacobs of West Windsor. Donations may be offered to Home Front.

Rudolph Richard Palombit, 82, of Niceville, Florida died May 5. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ryne and Kristin Palombit of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, FL 32578.

Ralph George Kazi, 82, of Palm Beach, Florida and Stamford, Connecticut, died on May 6. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Suzanne of West Windsor. A celebration of his life will be held in Stamford, Connecticut in June. Kenneth S. Toth, 63, of Hamilton died May 7 at RWJUH at Hamilton. An Air Force veteran, he was a custodian for the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District for several years. Survivors include a sister, Anna Marie Toth of Trenton.

Maddalena “Lena” Medico Giuliana, 80, of West Windsor died on May 7 at Saint Joseph’s Wayne Hospital/Hospice of New Jersey, in Wayne. Born in San Cataldo, Sicily, she was an area resident since 1957.

Survivors include her son, Bernardo of West Windsor; her daughter-in-law, JoAnn M. Giuliana of West Windsor; her daughter and son-in-law, Grazia M. and Salvador H. Sclafani of Franklin Lakes; her daughter and partner, Maria G. Giuliana and Tina Mosley of Jacksonville, Florida; and six grandchildren, Michael A, Gregory J., and Alyssa M. Giuliana, and Matthew C., Nicholas M., and Anthony T. Sclafani; and one sister, Grazia Medico Amico of San Cataldo, Sicily.

Charles W. Schaefer, 96, of Robbinsville died May 8 at his home. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia S. and William J. Nash of West Windsor; his grandchildren, William C. Nash and his wife, Lauren, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and David J. Nash and his wife, Amy, of Hamilton Square; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Darren, Catherine, and Elisabeth Nash. Rita P. Flynn Haggerty, 87, died May 9. Survivors include a granddaughter and her husband, Beth and Matthew Beaumond of Plainsboro.

Walter F. Bliszcz, 75, of Trenton died May 10 at his home. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Theodore LaPlant of West Windsor. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at the Hartmann Memorial Home, 2830 Nottingham Way, Trenton.

Elizabeth V. Frazee, 99, of Whiting died May 6, at Crestwood Manor, Whiting. A former West Windsor resident, she was born in Trenton, graduated from Trenton High School, and attended Trenton State Teachers College.

Survivors include her children, Madri of Gilroy, California, Carol Simko of North Brunswick ,and John of Lawrenceville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A longtime resident of Dutch Neck, she was a member of the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church and the West Windsor Seniors Club before moving to Whiting. Donations may be made to the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church.
