John Francis Marshall, 85, of Lawrenceville died July 16 at Capital Health Systems at Mercer. He received his medical degree in 1945 from Howard University and was the first African American Mercer County Medical Examiner and the first African American president of the Mercer County Medical Society. He practiced medicine at Capital Health Systems for more than 50 years. Herta Braunfelds, 97, died August 4 at her home in Plainsboro. Born in Talsi, Latvia, she was a longtime resident of the Bronx, New York.
