Do your children love to dance? Let them dance their way through summer at The Dance Corner dance camps. Located in West Windsor, the camps are held at a variety of locations, including area schools and at the Dance Corner’s new studio in the Southfield Shopping Center. The new studio includes not only two state-of-the-art dance studios, but also a large, comfortable waiting room, complete with Wi-Fi internet access.
Classes for all ages and skill levels are held year-round at The Dance Corner, including a competition team with groups in all levels from petite through seniors and soloists in all divisions. They also have a dance company with four shows in its repertoire. This year’s spring show, “The Little Mermaid,” is scheduled for April 10 and 11 at Grover Middle School. Tickets for the show are $8 in advance and $9 at the door.
Each summer The Dance Corner also offers a variety of summer camps that focus on interest levels and age-appropriate activities.
The Dynamic Dance Camp, for ages five to 14, offers a nurturing, fun, and safe environment where children can experience various types of dance and explore the different aspects of the theatrical profession while enjoying the benefits of physical exercise.
The Dance Intensive Camp, for ages 11 and up, offers a comprehensive, challenging program for the serious dance student. It requires a high level of commitment and dedication from all of its participants. The two one-week sessions include classes in advanced ballet technique, pointe, variations, choreography, and Pilates. The goal of the Intensive Camp is to develop and challenge dancers’ technique as well as cultivate their self-expression and self-confidence. Enrollment is by permission of the directors. Auditions and evaluations are available.
A new theme-based Preschool Camp, for ages 3 to 5, will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The camp will include a dance lesson, snack, and craft each day.
In addition, a variety of dance classes will be available in the evening, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical.
