Everywhere you go, you are constantly learning things. In a program called Cognetics, you are learning and teaching new ideas to many people. What is so great about Cognetics is that you learn all this new material that is then presented in a creative way. One of last year’s challenges was to create a “bored” game on an issue that you think is important. My group had done a “bored” game on smoking. And this year, I decided to expand the audience and explained the dangers of smoking to a Boy Scout den. Den 6, of Pack 66, eagerly listened to the facts about smoking and later tested their knowledge in the life size board game I made last year with my Cognetics group.
By the way that they were hanging onto every word (probably so they can win the game), you knew that the information being presented to them was sinking in and hopefully help them when they are faced with the question to smoke or not.
Cognetics has reached out to several youngsters, and I feel as if it has impacted my life and can change some of the decisions I will make as I grow up. More and more kids are joining the program that offers you a chance to expand your horizon- whether you are a very intellectual person or a very creative person, Cognetics can please all.
To find out more information about Cognetics, visit the Plainsboro Library on Sunday March 30, 2008 and see a Cognetics skit in action. The skit will be presented by Karthik Chandrasekaran, also involved in Cognetics, and is on the issue “internet dangers”.
Cognetics had a great impact on Den 6, and if you check it out, I’m positive that you will be enthusiastic about the program.
