The newly formed New Jersey Capital Philharmonic is set to perform on New Year’s Eve at the War Memorial Concert Hall in Trenton.
The New Year’s Eve program includes festive music to say goodbye to the old year, as well as spirited music to greet the new.
The feature attraction is Spellbound Concerto by Miklos Rosza, from the classic Hitchcock film starring Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman.
Romanian born pianist Gabriela Imreh will perform as a guest soloist. Imreh has played throughout the world with major orchestras including the National Russian Philharmonic, the Vancouver Symphony, the Tivoli Festival Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.
Also joining the orchestra for this performance is Mano Divina, one of the world’s leading players of the Theremin. The Theremin is an electronic instrument that is played without the artist making physical contact with the instrument. Its sound can be heard in numerous science fiction movies from the 1950s; Spellbound Concerto was one of the first works to feature this instrument.
The program also includes works by Bernstein, Liszt, Strauss, Smetana, Gershwin and Anderson.
New Jersey Capital Philharmonic, under the leadership of music director and conductor Daniel Spalding, is ready to fill the void left by Greater Trenton Symphony and the Delaware Valley Philharmonic.
Spalding is positioning the NJCP to capitalize on the market potential of the Greater Trenton region.

The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. Dec 31 at War Memorial Patriots Theater,1 Memorial Drive, Trenton.
