Township Councilman Vince Calcagno and Councilwoman Sheree McGowan announced they are seeking re-election this year.
The Robbinsville Township Council election is scheduled for Nov. 6.
Calcagno and McGowan are running on the message of “Proven Community Service.” Both candidates want to continue facilitating an economic plan that has supported the development of business ratables such as Amazon and McKesson. With the economic development, Robbinsville has enjoyed the lowest municipal tax rate increases in Mercer County for the past four years, including a tax rate reduction for 2013.
Both Calcagno and McGowan agree that Robbinsville’s government must focus on a business plan for the south side of Town Center that is fair to both commercial and residential interests.They also agree that there is a significant need to address the evolving recreational needs for township residents of all ages.
The candidates plan to continue reviewing and implementing open space policies that ensures the proper balance between preservation, residential, and commercial development.
Calcagno and his family have lived in Robbinsville for nearly 25 years. He is a graduate of Villanova University and has a Master’s Degree from Drexel University.
Currently, he is the council liaison to the Senior Advisory Council and Library Committee. Calcagno is a Principal Data Architect at Ericsson, a global telecommunications software and consulting company.
McGowan and her family have lived in Robbinsville for more than 20 years. She obtained a bachelors degree in finance and accounting and M.B.A. from Rider University.
She is employed by the County of Mercer Board of Social Services and has been self employed as a managing partner for a development company. Currently, Sheree is the liaison for the Economic Development Committee, Rent Leveling Board and serves on the Robbinsville Irish Heritage Association parade committee. She has served on the township Planning Board, Affordable Housing Committee and the Cable Advisory board.
