Aneesh Chopra, a 1989 graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, was named the Secretary of Technology, a cabinet level position for the Governor-Elect Tim Kaine in Virginia. He is the first Indian-American in that position.
Chopra has been a resident of Virginia since 1998. He is a leader of the Indian-American community and active member of the U.S.-India Political Action Committee’s (USINPAC) Leadership Committee Born in Trenton, Chopra is a graduate from Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor’s degree in public health, and received his master’s degree, also in public policy, from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.##M:[more]##
Chopra, 34, credits his public service positions with being a member of Jersey Boys State, an organization for high school juniors run by the American Legion. In his class, where he was a “senator,” Bill Baroni (New Jersey Assemblyman) was the “governor.”
