The Plainsboro Business Partnership is seeking charter members to promote patronage to area establishments.
“We have identified a need in the community and we have received a great deal of support,” says Paul O’Brien, founder. “Plainsboro is a great community with so much to offer. However, our residents need to be aware of what’s available to them so they may support those who have invested themselves in local business.”
O’Brien, who is running for a Plainsboro Township Committee seat in the upcoming fall election, is the owner and broker for Golden Rule Real Estate, based out of Plainsboro. He lives in the township with his wife and daughter.
He says he read in the News about the owner of the local ACE Hardware store, who was expressing frustration over the lack of patronage to his store. “This came as an interesting time, as I had been developing the idea of a Plainsboro-based business networking group for some time now, and after reading the article, it became clear that the time is now to get this group rolling,” O’Brien said.
O’Brien says that Plainsboro does not have an active chamber of commerce through the Greater Mercer County, Middlesex County Chambers or Princeton Regional chambers. “The number of retail space vacancies is obvious,” he added. “This group is looking to have Plainsboro residents think ‘Plainsboro First’ when they are about to go shopping or dining to satisfy a need or want.”
The group’s first meeting will be in September, as the group will spend the summer months focusing on canvassing.
Monthly networking events feature guest speakers. Contact O’Brien by E-mail at paul@gdn-rule.com.
