#b#On the Run#/b#

High School South graduate Eddison Gulama ran in his first collegiate 500 meter race in the St. Joseph’s men’s indoor track season opener at the Jack Pyrah invitational on December 6. Gulama placed second with a time of 1:06.19, and St. Joe’s placed second overall.

High School North graduate Joe Jensen set Hamilton College records in the 60 and 300 meter dashes, also setting a facility record in the latter, at SUNY Brockport the weekend of December 6.

South senior Nikhil Pulimood placed 21st overall at the Nike Cross Country Nationals on December 6 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon. His time was 15:47 for the five-kilometer course.

WW-P Players Named WJFL All Stars

Several High School North and South athletes were named to the West Jersey Football League Valley Division First and Second Team All Star squads.

North’s Kevin Murphy, Robert Peterson, Malik Thompson, and Kade LaForge and South’s Prakhar Yadav and Austin Meo all earned first team offense honors. Knights Jack Schilder and Isaiah Miranda, and Pirate Andrew Schoepfer made up the defensive side.

Second team offense included North’s CJ Markisz, Logan Brodsky, and Greg Olsson and South’s Scott Robinson. The defensive selections were Donte Whitaker-Pinney, Tucker Titsch, and Josh Powell of North and Jack Holleran of South.

#b#W-P Residents Compete in Kung Fu#/b#

Eight WW-P students represented the United States in the sixth Traditional World Wushu Championships in Chizhou, China, in October. More than 2,000 athletes from 46 countries competed. Alex Ni, a seventh grader at Community, won a gold medal in the style known as drunken fist and a silver medal in nine-section whip. High School South freshman Ruby Min won two bronze medals, one each in Kung Fu fan and eagle fist.

South freshmen Karen Wang and Anna Hu each won a bronze medal in fan, and Charlotte Xu, a fifth grader at Millstone River, got a bronze medal in snake fist. Grover sixth grader Amber Min, South freshman Angelo Guo and Community sixth grader Raymond Jin were all awarded certificates of excellence.
