Board Seeks Plainsboro Member

The WW-P Board of Education must replace Ellen Walsh before New Year’s Eve and asks qualified Plainsboro residents to announce their interest by Tuesday, November 20, at 3 p.m.

Those interested are asked to send a letter of interest to Larry Shanok, the board secretary, at 505 Village Road West, West Windsor, 08550. A letter can also be E-mailed to larry.shanok@ww-p.org. The candidates may be interviewed at the board meeting on Tuesday, November 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Community Middle School at 55 Grovers Mill Road in Plainsboro.

Walsh, the former board member of eight years, resigned on Friday, October 26, when she closed the sale of her home, making her a non-resident and ineligible to serve. The new appointee will carry out the rest of Walsh’s term, which ends next April.

To become a member of the Board of Education in New Jersey, a candidate must:

— Be able to read and write.

— Be a United States citizen and a resident in the school district for at least one year.

— Be a registered voter in the district before filing the nominating petition.

— Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against the Board of Education.

— Not hold office as either mayor or member of the municipal governing body.

— Not hold two elective offices simultaneously.

— Not be disqualified from membership for the conviction of certain crimes.

The appointed candidate must complete a criminal background check through the state Department of Education (DOE) within 30 days of election.

Staff Appointments

Matthew Ellmyer, health teacher/athletic trainer, at a salary of $50,200; replacement for Patricia Middlemiss.

Wenhui Liu, Chinese teacher, $53,880, replacement for Susan Hsueh.

Ronnye Wasserman, teacher of the deaf, $35,228, 40 percent replacement for Jessica Corriveau.

Erin Conrad, science teacher Science; Jessica Corriveau, teacher of the deaf; Caitlin Ellingson, math teacher; Tamara Hutchison; elementary teacher; Elizabeth Keller, special education.

Laura Foster, guidance counselor, $54,350.

Mary Jenoriki, social studies, $54,350.

Lindsay Mulshine, elementary teacher, $54,700.

Melinda Piergrossi, elementary teacher, $63,415.

Resignations

Karen Dorsey retired as a speech-language specialist after 10 years with the district.

Arlene Harris retired as a computer teacher after 18 years with the district.

Athletic Stipends

At High School North: Michael Barber, wrestling assistant coach, $3,792; Mary Desjardins, swimming assistant coach, $4,740; Peter Martens, fencing assistant coach, $3,318; and Matthew Ellmyer, athletic trainer, $9,480.

Also at Community Middle School: Bryan Henry, wrestling coach, $2,844.

Non-Athletic Stipends
