Wedding

Kuang Hua Chiang and Adam Christopher Supple were married October 2 at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton. The story was in the New York Times on October 8.

The bride is a daughter of Julie S. Chiang of Princeton Junction and Hansen George Chiang of Jersey City. A graduate of Brown, she received a master’s degree in public administration from New York University and a law degree from Boston College. As a license examining officer in the Office of Foreign Assets Control she examines applications of those who wish to work in countries on which the United States has assessed economic sanctions.

The bridegroom is the son of Jacquelyn Greco Supple and James Francis Supple of Summit. A graduate of Georgetown University, he also received his law degree from Boston College. His time in the Army from 2000 to 2004 included a tour in Iraq and the rank of captain. A contract specialist with the General Services Administration, he becomes an assistant general counsel working on federal acquisition policy at the agency in Washington, D.C., on October 25.

Births

The University Medical Center at Princeton has announced the following births:

A daughter was born to Plainsboro residents Renu Goyal and Vineet Gupta, October 13.

Sons were born to West Windsor residents Robyn and Corey Safran, October 12; and Barbara and Edward Macqueen, October 12.

A daughter was born to West Windsor residents Daisy and Andrew Huang, October 4.

Deaths

George William “Mr. Pov” Povilaitis, 92, of East Windsor, died September 24 at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor. A long-time resident of West Windsor, he was a science and physical education teacher at Princeton High School for 30 years.

Born in Giberton, he attended Temple University on a full football scholarship and received his degree in teaching. A staff sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater. He was a long-standing member of the Elks Club, the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Povilaitis; a nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Catherine M. Dignan, 69, of Vernon Township died October 5. Survivors include a son, Richard Dignan of West Windsor.

Jeanne Tash Eldridge, 87, of Hamilton Township, died October 5. Survivors include a sister, Barbara DiMeglio of West Windsor. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20004.

Eleanor ‘Elly’ V. Gibbs, 81, of Hamilton, died October 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Dutch Neck, she was a lifelong area resident and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie B. Deveney, Ginger Scarborough and her husband Paul, and Betty R. Roleson; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ruth Squibb; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Stanley Szalewicz, 54, of Plainsboro died October 18 at the Pavillions at Forrestal Village in Plainsboro. Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, he was the organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Plainsboro since 2001.

Szalewicz graduated from St. Vincent College, Class of 1977 with a degree in sacred music, and earned an master’s degree in organ performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master of library science with specialization in music librarianship from Indiana University, Bloomington. He also studied at the Royal School of Church Music, Croyden, England, in 1982, where he was part of a choral performance for Great Britain’s Queen Mother Elizabeth.

In 2001, Szalewicz joined the library faculty at Westminster Choir College where he was an associate professor and librarian at Talbott Library in Princeton. He was a charter member of and repertoire consultant to the Caritas Chamber Chorale, a 20-voice mixed ensemble specializing in a cappella repertoire from the Renaissance to the present. Active in the Trenton Diocesan Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, Szalewicz was an independent member of the American Guild of Organists, and served as chair of the board of directors of the Capital Singers of Trenton from its inception in 2006.

Survivors include a sister, Marge Salewic of Oil City, Pennsylvania; brothers, Steve and his wife Meg Szalewicz of Connecticut, and Ted, George, Ray, and his twin, John Szalewicz, all of Western Pennsylvania; and a special friend, Nancy Paolini of Ewing. Vincenza Zina Caputo, 77, of Manasquan, died October 18. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Emanuel and Dolores DiTeresi of Princeton Junction. Donations may be made to the National MS Society, c/o O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick 08723.

Rose Lydia Alexander Walker, 56, of Plainsboro, died October 17. Services are Saturday, October 23, 11 a.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, 440 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Trenton. Calling hours begin at 9 a.m.
