Author to discuss New Jersey inventions at Princeton Public Library

Author Linda Barth is set to talk about her book A History of Inventing in New Jersey: From Thomas Edison to the Ice Cream Cone at Princeton Public Library.

The discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 20 in the library’s community room, 65 Witherspoon St., Princeton.

In the book, Barth explores some groundbreaking, useful and fun inventions with New Jersey roots. In addition to Edison’s Menlo Park lab, where he patented the phonograph and light bulb, Barth will discuss other notable firsts that came from New Jersey including the first drive-in movie theater, the first cultivated blueberry, Band-Aids and medical advances.

Barth’s appearance in the Community Room is part of the library’s series of NJ350 programs commemorating the 350th anniversary of the founding of New Jersey.
