Pacesetter Award
Naveen Kumar of West Windsor received the 2005 Pacesetter Award from the Red Cross for his community service at the American Red Cross annual meeting last month. Kumar, who creates the blood schedule each month and volunteers in the donor center, is one of the youngest Pacesetters. A junior at High School South, he has been volunteering at the Red Cross since May, 2004. He also volunteers at the University Medical Center at Princeton.##M:[more]##
Kumar, a violin player for High School Symphony Orchestra and Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, has performed music at the Bristol Myers Squibb blood drive with his friends, Michael Weinthrob and Jeffrey Lee.
Born in Mt. Holly, he is the son of Devi and T. Kumar.
Chinese Award
David Kay of West Windsor, a senior at Peddie School, received the Chinese Award after spending a school year abroad in China. (The News, July 8). The award was presented at the school’s annual convocation ceremony in September.
All State Orchestra
The New Jersey All-State Orchestra performs at New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Prudential Hall in Newark, Sunday, November 20, at 3 p.m. The musicians include Plainsboro residents Sumona Bhattacharya, Tony Kosar, and Michael Zhao; and West Windsor residents Alexandra Dicker, Grayce Mei, Justin Chen, Julian Liang, and Phillip Yu.
The progam is a concert of Martin’s “The Awakening” with the All State Chorus, as well as selections including “Samson and Delilah” and “Shortcut Home.” Jeff Grogan conducts.

Early Thanksgiving
Lori Haas has been instrumental in coordinating a Thanksgiving celebration for ESL and Bilingual students. They will present a production for the parents and staff on Tuesday, November 22, at Wicoff School. Haas is an English as Second Language teacher at Wicoff School.
