Middlesex County College: Samira Dodson of Plainsboro was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.
Rider University: John Farrell of West Windsor, was instrumental in having the Center for the Development of Leadership Skills, ranked as one of the premier leadership development programs in the country by Leadership Magazine.
Farrell, the director of the four-year program designed for students of all majors, is also the assistant dean of graduate programs in the College of Business Administration. He also teaches Managing Your Money and Personal Financial Planning courses.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in economics, he received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Farrell has 28 years of experience as a management consultant to global, European, and U.S.-based corporations on strategic and operational projects.

Students and staff at Dutch Neck Elementary School dedicated this year’s community service activities to helping the Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick and the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. Baby items collected for both houses were presented by Dutch Neck staff members, Nicole Baldo, assistant principal; Linda Basler and Gwen Rogala, teachers; and David Argese, principal.

Christopher McQuarrie, a 1986 graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, has a new film opening this month. “Jack Reacher,” a film adaptation of Lee Child’s novel, “One Shot,” will be released Friday, December 21. McQuarrie wrote and directed the film starring Tom Cruise.
McQuarrie, born and raised in West Windsor, has written “Public Access,” “The Usual Suspects,” “X-Men,” “The Way of the Gun,” and “Valkyrie.” He received an Academy Award for “The Usual Suspects.”
The filming was done in Pittsburgh, and the film will premiere in Pittsburgh on December 15.

Laura Kapp and Joseph Goss are planning an October wedding. They are both volunteer firefighters with the Robbinsville Volunteer Fire Department.
The future bride graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in 2007. She received an associate’s degree from Mercer Community College and is working on her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is a critical care technician at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. She is the daughter of Kathy and John Kapp of West Windsor.
The prospective groom graduated from Lawrence High School and is a mechanic at GW Tire in Wrightstown.
