Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County installed new officers, including three West Windsor residents, for 2016. Ann Calder will serve a second term as president and Kathleen Yurwit will serve a second term as first vice president. Stephanie Foy will serve a first term as secretary.

The officers lead the Master Gardener organization in providing support for the Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline, maintaining the Mercer Educational Gardens in Pennington, and planning and hosting community educational programs and events. Visit www.­mgofmc.­org or call 609-989-6830.

Princeton Day School’s Upper School Mock Trial Team won the Mercer County Championship title, placing first of out of 12 teams and earning a spot in regional competitions. Team members include William Hopper of West Windsor.

#b#Community Conversation#/b#

A community conversation on “Remaining Awake through a Great Revolution” was held January 18 at West Windsor Senior Center in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Musical selections were presented by WW-P students.

Barbara Edmonds, chairperson of the West Windsor Township Human Relations Council, welcomed the participants. West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh presented opening remarks. Speakers included David Aderhold, superintendent of the WW-P School District. Poetry was presented by Zain Sultan, student member of the human relations council.

Jenny Lee, a member of the council, moderated. Panelists included Irwin Stoolmacher, founder and president of the Stoolmacher Consulting Group; Zellie Imani, a community organizer and educator; and Imam Asif Hirani, program manager for WhyIslam.

Other members of the West Windsor Township Human Relation Council include Firoozeh Vali, Victor Stien, Savin Roman, Razia Sayed, Tasneem Q. Sultan, and Zahida Mirza.

Carnegie Mellon University: Maya Kaisth, a 2013 graduate of High School South, is on the dean’s list. She is a junior.

University of Delaware: Students from West Windsor on the dean’s list include F. Angley, Rebecca Arias, Elizabeth Bellotti, Ayanna Gill, Deniz Hatiboglu, Andrew Holubec, John Janick, Alissa Julius, James Mulhall, Jessica Musumeci, Stephanie Naglak, Kathleen O’Connor, Samantha Paley, Rachel Schaefer, Brian Tso, and Elianna Wydra. Plainsboro students on the dean’s list include Timothy Buttner, Christina Patti, Gina Patti, Alisa Rubinstein, Ricardo Stella, and Sam Weiskopf.

Elon University: Samuel Lichtenstein of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. He is the son of Stephen Lichtenstein and Dana Krug of West Windsor.

Hofstra University: Students on the dean’s list include Colby Hussong of West Windsor and Derek Zhang of Plainsboro.

Lebanon Valley College: Marissa Kirkendoll of West Windsor has been accepted to the Class of 2020. She will graduate from High School North in June.

University of Rhode Island: Students on the dean’s list include Anthony Colonna and Kerry Shanaberger of Plainsboro; and Kayla Marie Carlen of West Windsor.

Susquehanna University: Sarah Bush of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. A 2012 graduate of High School North, she is majoring in early childhood education.

Western New England University: Kevin J. Worrall of Plainsboro is on the dean’s list. He is studying accounting and finance.
